How To Build A Kitchen Sink Cabinet Box

Since my cabinet is made from a frame with a side attached the sink doesn t quite fit and a little of the top right rail will need to be removed.
If you are reworking your kitchen cabinets then you will need to know how to construct a sink base cabinet. The reason is because your kitchen sink has to have a place to sit. Standard counter height is 36 with the cabinets usually being around 34 5 tall to allow room for the countertop material. Then cut them to length.
The main cabinet boxes themselves i built out of 2x4s and 3 inch long screws they would not be going anywhere. Sinks are designed to fit in regular kitchen cabinets which have a side maybe 20mm thick. The reason the back piece is optional is because you can build your sink base without it and not have to cut out plumbing holes when installing. Now subtract the thickness of the back from your fence setting and cut the bottom panel to width.
For upper or wall cabinets add 18 20 to the 36 counter height. With the plywood cut to size your cabinet should take an hour and two to assemble. Label them left and right with pencil marks on the inside faces. The kitchen cabinets turned into my own little project it was something i was equally stressed and terrified about and don t get me wrong they are not perfect but i m very happy with them.

To build your sink cabinet you will want to use 3 4 plywood for most of the cabinet box. So if you are in need of a sink base cabinet then you might want to check out these plans. I laid the sink on the cabinet and then measured how much the sink was short of being flush with the side. Flip the assembly onto its side and drive a few finish nails through the side into the cabinet bottom to hold the bottom in place while the glue dries.
Standard counter depth is 25 which the cabinets themselves being 24 to allow for a 1 countertop lip. Use a table saw to cut plywood strips for your face frame cabinets. Next glue and screw the bottom panel to the base panels and attach the side panels to the bottom. If you choose to add a back panel it will be out of 1 4 plywood.
