How To Cut Empty Box From Kitchen Cabinets

Thanks to the white that the kitchen cabinet seems pure and clear the perfect match for the countertop. Cabinet grade birch is typical and can be found in all big box stores. That being said lets first go over the basic tools for building a cabinet box. Shift the pry bar along the runner a few inches and repeat until the runner is loose and can be removed.
Then cut 4 pieces of lumber to that length and place 1 under each corner of the cabinet you re removing. The front board has to be flush to the front of the cabinets. Put on goggles and a dust mask. Apply clamps around the perimeter.
Make the necessary cuts in the kitchen cabinets cutting out the wood to be able to fit. This was fairly straightforward on a table saw just take the cabinet box apart usually easy unless you already have custom handmade cabinets set the gate for the amount needed to trim off and run the 2 sides of the cabinet through that need to be shortened and reassemble. So i took measurements and built a three sided box to extend it down to match the cabinet on the opposite side. Remove the clamps when the glue is dry.

Place the face frame on the cabinet. Place support blocks under the wall cabinet you re working on. Pry out away from the cabinet side panel. Pry runners away from the cabinet sides with a flat pry bar and hammer.
1 8 plywood for the back. They have to be aligned to the cabinets but be aware of the thickness of the front board when taking your measurements. These prevent the cabinet from crashing to the floor if your hand slips while you remove it. Place the edge of the pry bar in the seam behind the runner and tap it down from above to widen the seam.
After i got my pieces of plywood cut i added pocket holes to attach to the existing cabinet. For cabinet box construction you will need. Vintage kitchen cabinet molding and trim. 1 2 or 3 4 plywood.

Place the cabinet across two sawhorses face up. I just screwed long pieces of wood 1 x 2 on top of the cabinets and on the ceiling to the ceiling joists using anchors when needed. Shoot four 1 1 4 inch pin nails through the face frame one at each corner. Place the shelf back in the cabinet if you removed it.1 2 thickness is also typical but i sometimes use 3 4 especially for frameless cabinets.
