How To Drill A Hole In A Kitchen Cabinet

Depress the trigger on the drill.
For the rest of the doors mark the holes on the door with a pencil using the template. Your goal is to rub the crayon off into the hole until it is level and filled. One way to avoid splintering the front of the drawer is to clamp a small piece of wood on top of the area to be drilled and drill through that bit of wood into the front of the drawer. Drill your holes with a bit the same size or only slightly larger than the diameter of the hole in your pull.
You may have to drill your own hole in the template. Do not force the drill. Most knob screws require a 3 16 inch diameter hole but it s a good idea to drill a test hole in a scrap of wood to make sure of the size. Because i want the pulls centered in the drawers and the holes are 1 2 lower than center i made sure to mark top on each drawer as a future quick look reference.
Make sure that you open the door during the drilling process to ensure that you don t end up drilling the wrong side of the door and so you don t drill into the frame of the cabinet behind the door. Repeat this process on the other side of the hole. This should if you have the clamp firm prevent any sparring or splintering on the finished surface of the cabinet drawer. Drill through the front of the door at the marked point.

Drill the hole. Keep working the filler into the hole and very soon you will start to see it emerge on the front side. Hold the door open as you drill to make sure you don t drill into the cabinet. Do not drill through the template.Once you drill the first holes then you can find out which holes in the template line up the best. Press down smooth out and let dry. Repeat these procedures for any additional wire holes. Hold the drill straight and apply gentle pressure on the drill as the drill bit penetrates the cabinet wall.
Here you can see the old cabinet knobs left an impression on the front side keep pressing in the filler until it is well through the front side. Place the tip of the drill bit on the pencil mark on the cabinet. Drilling holes for cabinet pulls now i just had to find the center on each drawer.
