If the cabinet isn t plumb slip shims between the cabinet and wall at the stud lines and adjust as necessary.
Secure the top and bottom of the cabinet to the wall with 3 inch long 10 cabinet screws. Drill pilot holes through the cleat with a 1 8 inch drill bit so they line up. 10 lift the cabinets and rest them on the ledger board in their designated place. Set the first wall cabinet on the ledger strip and 1 4 inch away from its reference line on the wall.
Lift the cabinet into place and set it on the two by four. This as well as being a level line to sit them on is also a good support when you re working on your own. Drill and countersink two holes in each of the mounting rails inside the cabinet and drive 2 1 2 inch cabinet screws through the holes. Drill the holes in the upper and lower hanging rails of the cabinets the two horizontal pieces of lumber along the top and bottom of the back of the cabinet.
The easiest way i ve found to install kitchen cabinets to the wall is to mark a perfectly level line for the bottom of the units and fix a batten temporarily for the units to sit onto. Use a spirit level to mark up where the sides and bottom of the unit will be then mark it out on your wall. You secure one half of the cleat to the wall and the other to the cabinet and then simply set the cabinet onto the cleat. Drill holes for as many lag screws as will hold the cabinet securely.
