Measure the length of the side pieces.
Measure and mark the front section of crown molding to the cabinet width. Installing crown molding on kitchen cabinets takes a whole lot of accuracy and precision in cutting especially the corners. Repeat this process with another piece of crown molding. Place the crown molding so that it is rests upside down and at a 45 degree angle against the saw fence.
Start on the side. Cut a 45 degree angle into a piece of crown molding so the length from the inside of the cut to the end of the piece of molding equals the length of the side of the baseboard. Measure out and cut a length of crown molding that is at least a few inches longer than the side of your cabinet. Cut strips of straight 3 4 in x 1 1 2 in wood to fit the front and sides of each cabinet.
It may not be a concern if you have done this before and you have a miter saw at home. Pick one side of your cabinet to start with. Next hold up the piece to the side of the cabinet flush against the wall and mark where you ll make a 45 degree cut for the corner. Set the miter saw to a 45 degree angle cut.
