Simply hold one of the soft close hinges with one hand and the cabinet door with the other. If the hinge is being stubborn you can tap it with a rubber mallet. A heavier cabinet door requires more soft close while a lighter door requires less. Once the soft close hinge gets on the mounting plate slide it in then push it for a tight clip.
So basically for example if your door is overlay screw it onto the cabinet as close as possible to the door being above and below the inside of the face frame. Make sure the soft close hinge is squarely in place and flush with the top of the cabinet door.
