The idea behind presented fixings is to spread the weight pressure on bigger surface than just few points where the cabinet would be screwed in. My thought is that this will make installing the upper cabinets faster since i won t have to find the studs again once the wall is patched. What i m thinking is installing a 2x4 between each of the wall studs at the height where the upper cabinet will hang in effect making one big ledger board. No matter what they ll find a way in through the tiniest of cracks even in newer built homes.
Even though the drywall behind the cabinets and stove will not be visible installing the panels will not substantially add to the cost of the kitchen. Put down old fashioned snap traps with peanut butter almonds or cheese. This however depends greatly on the condition of the wall and if the damages are too big it might be necessary to take care of biggest holes before any further works. The easiest and also the quickest solution to fit kitchen cabinets on uneven wall is to simply fix one or two wooden battens that will play the role of a guideway for all cabinets.
More and more we re seeing kitchens with no upper cabinets so just lower cabinets with either a full wall of tile stone or just a short backsplash. The drywall issue isn t the cause of your mouse problem. It s pretty much a given that no one hangs cabinets on the wall without going into studs. Spring toggle probably the best solution of all fixings commonly available since it covers the largest area behind the plasterboard spreading the pressure from cabinet more evenly and not only on single point where it s screwed in. There s something happening in kitchen design lately that s both perplexing and exciting.
